

# Search for Missing Man, Tyler Barnett, in Gulf of Mexico After Alleged Jump from Carnival Cruise Ship

The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a large-scale search operation in the Gulf of Mexico for a missing Louisiana man, **Tyler Barnett**, who was reported missing from the **Carnival Glory** cruise ship (1,2,3,4,5). A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines stated that surveillance video shows the missing man, Tyler Barnett, climbing on a lifeboat and jumping from the Carnival Glory cruise ship (2). 

> "After multiple reviews of the shipboard surveillance video, it appears that the guest reported missing on Monday jumped from the ship’s Deck 4 at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Monday," said Matt Lupoli, senior manager of public relations for Carnival (6).

Barnett's family reported him missing and noticed that his bed had not been slept in (2). His mother, Elisha Reid, expressed hope that he is still alive but is concerned that he may not have survived (4). 

> "I have my moments where I break, but I'm keeping the faith... What's important to me is to know where he's at and to have him home, whether he's alive or not, I want his body to be home," said Reid (4).

The cruise line is providing assistance to Barnett's family, and the ship will continue its scheduled arrival in Jamaica on Wednesday (2,3,4,5).
